On February 8, 2025, the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) hosted a closed round table for the heads of member companies of the Chamber, dedicated to the prospects for business development in Russia in the current environment.

The event participants discussed the geopolitical context and expectations of foreign businesses related to the intensification of the US-Russian dialogue.

Zhanna Logacheva, an expert at Baikal Lobridge, presented an analytical review of regulatory trends in Russia for 2025-2026. The presentation examined the key macrofactors that determine the legislative activity of regulators: economic, domestic political and geopolitical.

The main focus was on trends, having a direct impact on the activities of international companies in Russia:

  • fiscal tightening;
  • "whitewashing" of the economy and strengthening tax control;
  • counter-sanctions measures and protection of the domestic market;
  • a two-circuit model of foreign investment;
  • development of mechanisms for the redistribution of property;
  • changing the principles of state support and stricter localization requirements.

In conclusion, Zhanna Logacheva emphasized that in the current conditions, business opportunities remain, although they are selective. A deep understanding of geopolitical processes, economics, and regulatory trends makes it possible to transform challenges into a manageable element of a business strategy.
