The Lake Baikal Foundation has been invited to join two working groups preparing for the World Water Forum, the largest global event dedicated to water policy, held every three years. The Forum brings together governments, international organizations, academia, and business to shape the global agenda for water resource management.
In 2027, the Forum will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The invitation for experts from the Lake Baikal Foundation to contribute to the development of the Forum’s program is an important recognition of the Foundation’s expertise and an opportunity to strengthen Russia’s participation in international discussions on water security.
The Foundation will contribute to two key areas:
Baikal Lobridge established the Lake Baikal Foundation in 2016. Over the years, the Foundation has implemented comprehensive projects focused on waste management in protected natural areas, biodiversity conservation around Lake Baikal, and support for local communities. It has also developed strong expertise in climate policy and water resource management, which has been presented at both national and international levels.
The Foundation continues to develop projects that help bring Russian expertise and research into the global environmental agenda.
